Opportunities: Creation of Tone

One of the benefits of creating your own channel is that you can have your own ethos or ideology, one way you can promote this is by reflecting it on your channel ident. A serious tone will attract a more mature audience whereas a more entertainment based ident will attract a younger audience. The tone can be achieved with the linguistic register this includes things such as the choice of colors you employ.

Serious Tone
The serious tone channel I went for to use as my example is the BBC 4 ident which appeals to a older audience this ident in particular was used for the older generation that watch the nature show that was scheduled next.




Laid Back Tone
The example I went for is BBC three's ident. The target audience for BBC three is younger than BBC four so this allows them to use more bright colors and have a lot more going on, this keeps the younger audience engaged and keeps them watching their channel.
